the gross refers to studying anatomy at the MACROscopic even, that is, next to the naked eye.
Gross refers to the undamaged, that is lacking deduction, so within this instance I believe that the term refers to the entire anatomy
"Gross" sometimes mode "the whole entry." For example, "gross pay" is your full salary up to that time deductions, and "lattice pay" is what you get after your employer deduct taxes, insurance, etc. So maybe gross anatomy refers to your entire body.
